Prevalence of Pathological Myopia and Its Association with Ocular Disorders

Introduction: Pathological myopia (PM) is defined as the presence of structural changes due to axial elongation in eyes with high myopia. Numerous vision-threatening conditions are known be more prevalent pathological including retinal detachment, myopic retinoschisis, macular holes, choroidal neovascularization, and chorioretinal atrophy. These often lead progressive loss vision. Present study was conducted find out burden its associated factors at a tertiary care centre. Materials Methods: A hospital based cross sectional sample size 345 least -5.0 D spherical equivalent both eyes. Each subject interviewed followed by extensive ophthalmologic screening examination, measurements visual acuity fundus examination Direct & Indirect Ophthalmoscopy. Data analysed using SPSS ver. 21.0 appropriate statistical tests. Results: Prevalence among cases between 7 40 years old 9%. Among 31 myopia, juvenile youth onset seen 29% each while early adult 41.9% cases. females (12.4%) compared males (5.7%).
